I’ve recently been given the all clear for cancer and it’s really prompted me to get some Life Insurance in place to cover the mortgage if anything happens to me. Is this possible given that I’ve had cancer?
Getting Life Insurance after you’ve had cancer could be tricky but may be possible depending on a number of factors, such as what type of cancer you had and how long ago it was since you were discharged from care.
Depending on the type of cancer, Life Insurance might be available for a relatively short period of time after the all clear. However, for other types of cancer Life Insurance companies generally require a period of at least 5 years cancer free.
It is really a case of collecting all the facts and then checking with the underwriters at various insurers to see if cover can be offered and, if so, at what premium level.
Unfortunately there are some cases where Life Insurance simply won’t be available. However, with a specialist query such as the availability of Life Insurance after recovering from cancer, we’d always recommend speaking to an adviser.
